Mondays Maddness

Like always the weekend flew by and now I left with the chaos of a new week. Since this week I am doing collages with my girls for art (homeschool) I thought it would be nice to share a few of my collages in this post. Here is a brief definition of collage from WikipediaA collage (From the French: coller, to glue, French pronunciation: [kɔ.laːʒ]) is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.
A collage may sometimes include newspaper clippingsribbons, bits of colored or hand-made papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas. The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century as an art form of novelty.
So here they are two that I have made in the past.

This one was done in one of my journals and I wrote one of my favorite poems
down Loves Philosophy by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Like most of my person art
it holds great meaning to me and I do not normally share it publicly but it is my
blog after all, lol. It was made using acrylic paints, glitter modpog gel pens, drawings
 and image cut outs.

I think most woman can relate to this one! It is the build of emotion and
stress that happens from just living life. While some of it is leaning
towards my own issues with bipolar it also has a common theme many
of us go through at any stage of life. This one was done on canvas, I used a cool
blue because it seems to feel more emotional distant and fleeting to me, I used
water colors, magazine cut outs, rubber stamps, pen and staples.

Friday Feature:)- badEGGknitts

Todays feature is Angie of  badEGGknits. Her shop has some very cool sweaterless sleeves, hats, and other beautifully made knitted treasures. So come get to know her a little, visit her shop and show a little love!

How did you name your business?
I call it badEGGknits because its mostly knitting that I sell there and on my homestead my main focus is poultry. We have chickens, ducks, turkeys, and peafowl.  Right now I am upto my eyeballs in eggs.

How long have you been doing your art/craft for?
I have been knitting for 3 years now. I taught myself through youtube videos :) I have been a painter since I was a child, I actually went to school for that for a while. I'm learning to spin yarn currently.

What inspires and influences your work?
For knitting its usually the yarn itself. It tells me what it wants to be.
Otherwise sometimes I see something in a store and think I could do
that and lastly the Most common thing is I will find a pattern start to
knit it and think of something better to change it too.

Where can you artwork/pieces be found?
And I'm on www.ravelry.com user id: kagedgoddess. I dont sell thru there but you can see All my knits there.

What do you do when your not creating?
Raise 4 kids, take care of the homestead, keep house. Run,
I'm running in a half marathon in May, Tough Mudder in sept.
And a few other smaller races throughout the year.

What is your favorite piece(s) that you have created?
My fav right now is SweaterLESS sleeves.

Why did you create this piece(s)?

My arms were cold but I hate sweaters. I like t shirts

What do you feel is special about your art/craft?
Its handmade, unique and comes from the heart.

Are there other forms of art and crafts you would like to learn? And why?
I would like to work with clay. I love it but I am pretty bad at it. I feel really grounded when I am shaping the lump of clay. Finished products look So beautiful, but they are way too expensive for my budget. :)

Monday's Maddness!!! 2/20/12

Mondays are always crazy for me. There is always so much to catch up on that I put off over the weekend. Extra cleaning, homeschool, half finished project and way to many errands to run all this consumes my day! But there is always time for creativity and inspirations can comes to us at the most chaotic of times! So I am  dedicating Mondays to the chaos and madness of life and creativity. Post what ever comes to mind and what ever happened over the past week/weekend that does not fit quite any where.

I read this wonderful quote in the book The Handmade Market place by Kari Chapin. The quote was from artist Mati Rose Mcdonough. "I don't think people have to choose only one area of focus, I believe all of the arts and crafts overlap and feed into each other and fuel new ideas. There are no boundaries where creativity is concerned." This rings true to me in so many ways. It is the reason I jump from craft to craft, to art to art and inter weave them together. It is the reason I find joy in my person works of art, my collages and altered art. The things I share and the things I keep secret. I try to mix up combined and reach for new things. But at the same time it becomes over whelming! There is always a new technics, crafts or medium I want to learn or try. I am sure many of you are like this, too. It is reward and fun to learn and (hopefully) master new artistic and crafting skills. And what is better then combining these skills to make something new or unexpected!

Red and Copper Whispers Princess Chainmaille Choker Necklace

I have been busy working on chainmaille project, getting spring jewelry and other spring themed products ready. Spring gets busy for me because I sell to some local shops that are open seasonally for the tourist. So I have to have enough items made that they have a good selection to pick from by the time they start stocking there shelves before opening. It gets busy and it seems I always have multiple project going on. This is the first year that I am going to try to sell chainmaille jewelry as well, I am looking forward to seeing how the market will be for these items locally.

I have also start making more trinket boxes. Not just decoupages but stamped as well. I figured I keep buying all these stamps and inks I should be using them for something, lol.

Recently I was asked for samples from a fellow blogger because they wanted to try and review hand creams for her blog. I checked out her blog and really liked it, so off in the mail went a nail & cuticle salve and blissful hands hand cream sample. Here is a link to her first review on my product Chrissy-jo's All Natural Nail & cuticle Salve Review
